 October 31, 2025 —Some comics come from contracts. Others come from pure creative chemistry. Bronze Star is definitely the latter. Mike Baron had always wanted to team up with Pat Broderick, and when the two finally talked, it took about ten seconds to spark something big.

“I asked Pat what he wanted to draw,” Mike recalls. “He said, ‘a supernatural western.’ And Bronze Star was born.”

The first volume blew past expectations — selling out fast and earning praise for its mix of eerie folklore and gritty frontier action. Mike calls Pat’s art “astonishing,” especially considering Pat is still producing the best work of his life in his seventies. Pat agrees, laughing that this project let him break free from the superhero grind and dive into something wild, moody, and totally different.

Set in a remote post-Civil War mining town in Alberta, Bronze Star follows a sheriff hiding a dangerous secret: he’s cursed with lycanthropy. That blend of history, horror, and western grit clicked instantly with readers. Now the duo is back with Bronze Star 2, diving even deeper into the folklore of the Northwest — Wendigo, Ogopogo, and a few surprises Mike dug up through extensive research. Pat spent a full year on the art, saying he poured everything he had into the new volume. There’s even an unexpected bonus story tucked in at the end.

With the first print run long gone and critics calling the series “simply stunning” and “the greatest western graphic novel ever,” excitement for volume two is already building fast.  August 27, 2025 — BaronComics.com is proud to announce that the Eisner Award-winning Nexus co-created by Mike Baron and Steve Rude is receiving a long-overdue oversized hardcover treatment, starting with Nexus Deluxe Hardcover Omnibus Vol. One set for release to crowdfunding backers this December and will be available shortly afterward in comic book shops nationwide.

The crowdfunding campaigns raised over a quarter-million in funding, enabling the production of this deluxe 880-page oversized hardcover collection, beginning with this first volume of a planned four-volume series from BIG Comics presenting the definitive edition of one of independent comics’ most influential and celebrated sci-fi superhero titles.

Nexus originally launched in 1981, and this omnibus release arrives just in time to mark the series’ 45th anniversary next year. Praised by Newsarama as “the greatest superhero comic of all time,” and lauded by science fiction legend Harlan Ellison for its “enormous intelligence and inventiveness,” Nexus remains a high-water mark in genre storytelling.
